Challenge: drilling work under extreme conditions
Working on high-voltage pylons places special demands on technology and precision. On the Swissgrid construction site (Managed TR 1650 220kV Daviaz-Cornier / Choëx Monthey, VS), by Implenia SA - Echandens carried out demanding inspection and drilling work on 12 high-voltage pylons. The wintry conditions made it difficult to supply water, so innovative solutions were required.
Innovative technology for maximum efficiency
In view of the very cold temperatures and the difficult water supply, it was decided to deepen with an air-cooled core drill. The LDA 92P drilling attachment used, enabled precise drilling with a diameter of 116 mm to a depth of 6 meters. The drilling performance was maximized thanks to the hydraulic motors of the Eurodrill RH4X.
Successful implementation with state-of-the-art technology
The combination of a powerful drilling attachment, customized hydraulics and innovative cooling ensured that the drilling work was carried out reliably. Thanks to the precise control of the drilling depth and the controlled drilling, the project was completed efficiently despite the adverse conditions.
